Bench

Bench

New Garden Trading beautiful cream painted metal bench now in.  Looks wonderful, lots of scrolls and curlicues - very elegant - sold one within 2 days of arrival - and is much admired in shop.  It has been featured in lots of magazines - I have managed to sneak one home to my garden and it looks perfect outside my bay window - (diverts attention nicely from the weeds) its great having somewhere to sit at the end of  the day and watch the sun go down. Bliss!  Not many left now so hurry, hurry, hurry .

Huge driftwood mirror

Driftwood mirrors have arrived.

Huge circular one is a real work of art.  Would look great over my living room fireplace BUT also looks great in the shop - a real attention grabber.  Porcelain shell tea lights sold out immediately.

Will try to get some more.

Emma Bridgewater melamine polka beakers came and went - just like that. Trying to get some more.  Hearts and Black toast now in but not for long I suspect. These are great for picnics and for the garden.

FLOOD 3.7.09 - after many days of summer weather the heavens opened and we had torrential rain for an hour in Troon.  Portland Street was flooded - about 6 inches of water and passing cars were causing tidal waves which threatened our lovely shop.  Luckily we are up a little step so we were ok, not so some other shops - however soon the police closed the road and the fire brigade arrived to save the day and things returned to normal.

Off to Newcastle for number 2 son’s graduation and hoping to check out the gift shops on Northumberland coast on way back.  8.7.09

Lovely customer just back from Isle of Wight said she couldn’t find anything she hadn’t seen in Beach!

Which reminds me got a lovely cheerful email from customer who visited Beach at the weekend and loved it! Always good to hear.

Going to Emma Bridgwater’s stockists day this week . really looking forward to seeing what’s new and going to the factory shop to see what treasures I can find.

Seahorse Light Pull

Seahorse Light Pull

Just back from PULSE at Earls Court.  Love going to London - especially for the day - means I can travel light.  Had lunch and a good long chat with my lovely friend Myrtle.  Found some new goodies for the shop.

Some super recycled leather notebooks and very clever photo-frames in a staggering array of colours and that super leather-smell.   Heal’s were buying - and stand was buzzing.  Frames start off flat and come with an envelope for posting, then by loopingover the treasury tag-type strings they cleverly stand up, so you can pop them flat in your case and then stand them up when you arrive at your hotel or wherever and have your loved ones to look at!  Brilliant idea and such gorgeous colours - a whole palette of seaside blues and greens.

Also discovered some wonderful driftwood mirrors, tealight holders and porcelain shell and urchin tea lights and these cute little silver seahorse light pulls.  Will photograph when they arrive.

summer tie dye silk scarves

summer tie dye silk scarves

Bought some beautiful summer silk tie-dye scarves in my favourite seaside colours.  These are light, soft and delicate and some are big enough to use as a wrap/shawl over that summer party dress.

Looking ahead to autumn I am very excited by a range of lambswool scarves I have discovered.  All designed and knitted in Britain with Scottish wool in the most gorgeous patterns and colours - spots, stripes, ruffles and appliqué hearts - and they are so soft and frothy and light - can’t wait to receive them - but they are being knitted over the summer. Watch this space.
